In 2019, I found myself lost, filled with anxiety, and uncertain about my future. During that period, my relationship with God was merely transactional—I turned to prayer only when desperate and harbored doubts about his existence. My academic performance reflected my struggles; despite investing long hours into studying and completing assignments, I remained an average student, consistently earning B grades. I navigated life feeling isolated, empty, and trapped in a repetitive cycle.
My introduction to Oasis USA occurred through a schoolmate's invitation to a Bible study, an event that marked the beginning of my transformative journey. Since joining Oasis, my trajectory has been nothing short of remarkable.
One of the initial achievements upon joining Oasis USA was making the dean's list—an accomplishment that had eluded me despite countless nights of immense effort. It was my deepening connection with God that enabled this shift. My spiritual life transcended mere religiosity, evolving into an authentic relationship with God. I studied the word of God voraciously and became committed to attending church services.
Oasis USA played an instrumental role in nurturing my leadership potential; from a shy and hesitant individual, I have evolved into a confident leader who oversees both on-campus and off-campus fellowships. Through these roles, I have led over a hundred souls to Christ, spreading the gospel across campus and in my community.
Complementing my spiritual growth, my academic journey has flourished. From achieving a spot on the President's list to securing over $20,000 in scholarships, obtaining fellowships at prestigious institutions like the World Trade Center and the National Science Foundation, and clinching victory in multiple pitch competitions for my startup—the academic front has mirrored the transformation I underwent within.
True to its name, Oasis USA has served as a place of refuge, not only for me but for countless others. This organization is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual and personal growth of young men and women, raising them in the way of the Lord. I am assured that the future is bright for my generation because of the Oasis. I will always be filled with gratitude for the day I crossed paths with Ozi, the person who introduced me to Oasis.
